Constantly imitated but never equalled.

Jean-Charles Verdier (1938–2014) was a pioneering French audio engineer renowned for his innovative contributions to analog hi-fi equipment, particularly turntables and tube amplifiers.

High-Fidelity Audio

Beyond turntables, Verdier expanded his expertise into the realm of valve (tube) electronics during the 1980s. He developed a range of amplifiers, including phono stages, integrated amplifiers, and monoblocks, which gained popularity for their warm, natural sound and minimalist design. These components have remained largely unchanged over the years, reflecting Verdier’s commitment to timeless quality and design.

The Platine Verdier

Verdier’s most significant achievement was the development of the Platine Verdier turntable, introduced in the late 1970s. This turntable featured a unique magnetic repulsion bearing system, eliminating the need for traditional thrust bearings and significantly reducing bearing and surface noise. The Platine Verdier has remained in continuous production for over 35 years, with more than 2,000 units sold worldwide, a testament to its enduring appeal and performance.
